Why mulch is great for your garden
Beyond the free price tag, mulch does a lot of quiet work in a garden. It keeps soil moist for longer so you’re watering less, and it suppresses weeds by blocking light from reaching the soil surface. It also insulates plant roots against extreme heat and cold, helps prevent erosion and compaction from heavy rain, and breaks down gradually over time, adding nutrients back into the soil as it does. On top of all that, it simply gives garden beds a neater, more finished look.
A few important things to know before you apply:
Mulch grades — tick all you’d be happy to receive:
- A Grade — 100% eucalyptus mulch. Our premium, most decorative option.
- B Grade — high-quality mixed mulch, with a broader mix of material. Still great quality, slightly less uniform in appearance.
- C Grade — mixed mulch that may include a portion of palm (no noxious weeds). A good option for fill or groundcover rather than a decorative finish.
Load size: our truck carries up to 8 cubic metres, and we deliver the entire load at once — we’re not able to split a load between properties, so please make sure you have space for the full amount. If that’s more than you need, consider chatting to a neighbour or two — they’re welcome to bring a wheelbarrow over and take a share once it’s dropped. We just need one property to accept and take responsibility for the whole load.
This isn’t a guaranteed delivery. Filling in the form puts you on our list — it doesn’t reserve you a load. How soon (or whether) you receive one depends on how many people are on the list in your area and how close you are to our current jobs in Lake Macquarie and Newcastle. We can’t promise a timeframe.
We’ll always call you first. Even once you’re on the list, we’ll ring to confirm before anything is delivered — you won’t come home to find a load dropped without notice.
Truck access is required: there needs to be safe, clear access for our truck to reverse in and tip the load directly where you need it.
Once you’ve submitted the form, there’s nothing else you need to do — you’re on our list, and we’ll give you a call if and when a load becomes available.
